More or less anything! The only limits I have are a maximum of 80,000 words and a minimum of 2,000 words. This basically covers everything from a PhD thesis to an undergraduate modular essay.
For obvious reasons, I cannot make corrections to the content of your work or its argument. My service corrects spelling, punctuation and grammar to ensure that the prose reads well. Any reference systems / citations that you use – or arguments that you make – are entirely your responsibility.
Yes. Before you commission me to proofread your document, there is a Contract of Service to sign. The Terms and Conditions of all my academic proofreading commissions can be found here.
I charge based on a ‘per-word’ service. The rate is £5.00 per 1,000 words. This is highly competitive when compared to other proofreading services.
Here are some common estimates:
- 80,000-word PhD thesis = £400.00
- 15,000-word Masters dissertation = £75.00
- 10,000-word undergraduate dissertation = £50.00
- 5,000-word module essay = £25.00
Before I generate your quote, I will need to know the exact number of words you want me to proofread (this should include any footnotes or endnotes, if required).
Words over or under a 1,000 word boundary will be charged pro rota. For instance, if your PhD thesis is 77,781 words, the charge would be £388.90; if your undergraduate essay was 5,242 words, the charge would be £26.20.
I require full payment before beginning any proofreading work, which is payable by bank transfer (BACS). Details are included with the Contract of Service / quote.
Turnaround times vary according to the length of work you want me to proofread.
- Between 20,000 and 80,000 words (long Masters dissertations, a PhD thesis): no more than 12 working days, usually no more than 10 working days
- Between 6,000 and 19,999 words (most postgraduate module essays / dissertations, undergraduate dissertations): no more than 5 working days
- Between 2,000 and 5,999 words (most undergraduate module essays, some postgraduate essays): no more than 3 working days
‘Working days’ do not include weekends or UK bank holidays.
Please note: I will not be held liable for you missing a university deadline, so please consider these turnaround times carefully.
I know how important university work is and also understand that you may have drafting and editing schedules to keep to (I know I did!). So if I’m unable to turn the work around in the times above based on my current commitments, I will be unable to take a commission from you.
